- Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin has exceeded $1 billion in supply on Ethereum following regulatory approval in Abu Dhabi.
- The milestone boosts institutional adoption and positions RLUSD as a major regulated stablecoin with cross-chain reach.
Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin has crossed a significant milestone, surpassing $1 billion in circulating supply on Ethereum. This growth comes after regulatory recognition in Abu Dhabi, signaling broader institutional adoption and a growing role for RLUSD in regulated stablecoin markets.
RLUSD Surpasses $1 Billion Supply on Ethereum
RLUSD now has over $1.02 billion circulating on Ethereum, out of a total $1.261 billion supply. Originally native to the XRP Ledger (XRPL), Ethereum has become the primary network for RLUSD issuance due to its larger liquidity base and robust decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
The surge in Ethereum-based RLUSD reflects strong interest from both DeFi participants and institutional users. Bridges between XRPL and Ethereum have made cross-network usage seamless, allowing RLUSD to support payments, asset swaps, and corporate settlements efficiently.
Regulatory Approval Fuels Institutional Demand
RLUSD’s expansion was accelerated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) in Abu Dhabi officially recognizing it as an “Accepted Fiat-Referenced Token.” This approval enables licensed financial institutions in the region to leverage RLUSD for payments, collateral, and settlements.
Issued under New York’s trust charter oversight, RLUSD aligns with other regulated stablecoins such as USDC and PYUSD. The regulatory backing adds credibility, making it an attractive option for compliant financial entities across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
Ethereum Becomes the Primary Network
While XRPL remains the stablecoin’s native chain, Ethereum’s network effects, liquidity, and infrastructure are driving the shift in supply. The stablecoin is increasingly integrated into DeFi protocols, lending platforms, and real-world asset (RWA) applications.
Ethereum’s prominence ensures broader distribution and easier adoption beyond the XRP ecosystem. RLUSD now directly competes with major regulated stablecoins, offering multi-network liquidity and a compliant framework for institutional finance.
RLUSD’s Growing Market Presence
Crossing the $1 billion mark positions RLUSD among the top emerging stablecoins. While smaller than USDT and USDC, its regulated structure, cross-chain capabilities, and adoption by DeFi and institutional platforms give it a unique competitive edge.
As compliance becomes central to digital asset adoption, Ripple aims to leverage Ethereum’s infrastructure to expand RLUSD’s reach across both decentralized markets and traditional financial systems.
