- Hyperliquid HIP-3 open interest has climbed above $790 million, setting a new ecosystem high.
- The increase reflects rising demand for on-chain perpetuals, particularly commodities-linked contracts.
- Permissionless market deployment under HIP-3 continues to drive adoption.
Open interest across exchanges launched under Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 framework has moved above $790 million, setting a new record for the ecosystem. The increase marks a sharp rise from levels recorded roughly one month earlier, highlighting accelerating activity across decentralized perpetual markets.
Commodities Trading Drives Recent Growth
The latest increase in open interest has been linked to rising participation in commodities-related perpetual contracts. With gold and silver trading near recent highs, traders have increased exposure through on-chain derivatives rather than centralized platforms.
This activity has contributed to a rapid expansion in open positions, reinforcing Hyperliquid’s push beyond crypto-only markets into traditional finance assets.
Pricing and Liquidity Show Competitive Edge
Market data indicate that Hyperliquid is offering tighter spreads and deeper order books than major centralized exchanges. Bitcoin perpetual contracts on the platform have shown spreads as low as $1, while competing centralized venues quoted wider pricing during the same period.
Order book depth has also remained higher on Hyperliquid, reducing execution costs and improving trade efficiency for larger positions.
HIP-3 Framework Enables Permissionless Markets
HIP-3, introduced in October, allows developers to deploy perpetual exchanges and individual contracts without centralized approval. Builders can launch markets directly on Hyperliquid’s infrastructure by staking the platform’s native tokens.
This model has supported rapid expansion across the ecosystem, with multiple teams contributing to liquidity and market coverage.
TradeXYZ Dominates HIP-3 Volume
Among HIP-3-based exchanges, TradeXYZ currently accounts for the majority of trading activity. On-chain data shows the platform handling tens of billions of dollars in daily trading volume, representing most of the framework’s total market share.
As adoption grows, Hyperliquid continues to position itself as a decentralized venue capable of supporting perpetual trading across crypto, commodities, and other traditional asset classes.
