  • Ripple CLO Stuart Alderoty supports the CLARITY Act, saying it will give clear rules and protect crypto users in the U.S.
  • Arthur Hayes opposes it, urging Trump to veto the bill and arguing that crypto should remain free from government regulation.

The debate over crypto regulation is heating up in the United States as lawmakers advance the CLARITY Act. Industry leaders are split on whether clearer rules will help or hurt digital assets.

Ripple CLO Supports Clear Crypto Rules

Ripple Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty has voiced strong support for the CLARITY Act. He says the bill will bring much-needed structure to the crypto market.

Alderoty argues that regulation is not about protecting companies. Instead, it is about protecting everyday users entering the crypto space. He noted that millions of Americans already hold digital assets. According to him, the market now needs clarity rather than uncertainty.

He stated that clear rules will help investors and companies operate with confidence in a fast-growing industry.

Lawmakers in the United States are currently reviewing the bill. Some reports suggest a vote could happen in the coming months as discussions continue in the Senate.

Arthur Hayes Pushes Back Against Regulation

Arthur Hayes has taken a very different position. He has urged President Donald Trump to reject the CLARITY Act.

Hayes believes crypto should not rely on government approval to survive. He argues that strict rules could weaken what makes digital assets unique.

He warned that forcing crypto into traditional financial systems may limit its original purpose. In his view, the industry was designed to operate outside conventional finance.

Hayes also said major financial institutions are already entering the crypto space. He linked this trend to growing demand from investors seeking protection against inflation.

Despite his criticism, he acknowledged that banks see commercial opportunities in crypto products.

Lawmakers Move Forward With the Bill

The CLARITY Act has already passed an important committee stage with a 15–9 vote. This shows growing political interest in creating a structured framework for digital assets.

Senator Cynthia Lummis has expressed optimism about progress. She expects further movement on the bill in the coming months.

Meanwhile, crypto exchange Gemini has suggested that a vote could take place on a short timeline. The debate highlights a clear divide in the crypto industry. One side wants regulation for stability. The other fear is that it may limit innovation.

The CLARITY Act has become a key point of disagreement in the crypto sector. Supporters believe it will bring order and trust. Critics argue it may change the nature of digital assets.

As discussions continue, the final decision could shape how crypto operates in the United States for years to come.
