A new research paper published in IFAC PapersOnLine by the IOTA Foundation and University College Dublin highlights blockchain’s potential in powering the circular economy, particularly at the critical End-of-Life (EoL) stage of products. The study argues that distributed ledger technology (DLT), such as IOTA’s Tangle, can close material loops by enhancing traceability and certifying which parts should be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, or recycled.
